Force Unleashed II

Ladies and Gentlemen, Sith and Jedi, I am pleased to provide you with my review of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. Although I must admit that this review may be just as short as the game is. But I’ll get to that shortly.

First let’s talk about game play. Nothing too special here as it relies on the combo button style of combat, add in the powers of the force and you’ve got a nice dark side soup. The game is enjoyable to play even if a bit frustrating at times due to a few minor glitches. I have heard reports of some major glitches, but as of yet I have not found any. And don’t forget the option to use Force Fury. It simple makes your attacks more powerful, I didn’t find that I needed to use it very often; maybe three times.

Oh Luke, is there a story to be told here? Well yes and no. Certainly this is designed to continue on from the first game as well as tie into the main continuality, however enjoyable- it falls short. You end the game with just as many questions as you started with. Some are actually the same. The ending begs to question the role in the continuality. But at least there you get to make a choice on which side you will stand or rather follow. I really would like to know what happened to Starkiller and whether he is a clone or not? Maybe the third chapter will tell us. Yes the ending seems to suggest that the story is not over.

Challenges are a secondary part of this game and some are fun, but I found most to be either redundant of the game itself or a bit too much. Certainly a challenge, but many gamers will simply find them frustrating,

We do have some nice customization options. You have a few costume choices and we can choose which type of crystal for our light sabers. In fact you can have a different crystal for each (Yes, you are dual wielding). Some crystals provide benefits such as more health regained from defeated enemies or less force powers used.

Now the question you want answered: Should I buy it? No, go rent it. While the challenges could provide you some entertainment for a few weeks, the actual story driven game play might last you a couple of days. Indeed, this game is short even for Yoda! I say save your money and rent it or use GameFly. That’s it, again I did enjoy playing it-but it’s not one I would say is worth buying right out.
