First Impressions On Dark Of The Moon

2011-06-08-transformers-logoWhile at E3 last week I had the opportunity to play through a level of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon on the Xbox 360. Dark of The Moon’s story takes place shortly before the events in the movie. This helps with a larger story arc and sets things into motion for the film. The game is developed by High Moon Studios who we know from the very successful and very well made Transformers: War For Cybertron.

In the level I played Bumblebee as I raced through a small town to 2011-06-08-transformers-prime-bumblebeefind some towers placed by the Decepticons. As I move along I had to take out quite a few Decepticons. First we have three modes: Stealth Force, vehicle, and robot. Stealth Force is a vehicle mode where we also have all our weapons transformed and ready to  kick some butt. With Bumblebee it’s like a wicked looking Camaro with a futuristic touch and weaponry that is visible and quite awesome in design.

2011-06-08-transformers-shockwave-enforcerThe controls felt like they did with War For Cybertron. Very easy to just pickup and play, no learning curve unless you’ve never played a first person or third person shooter and even then it just seemed a perfect balance that anyone should be able to enjoy the game. The graphics are sweet as I expected from High Moon’s previous works.  It was a little noisy on the floor, thus I can’t say much about the music and sound FX. It appeared to be well done as well as knowing High Moon’s work I suspect it to be rock solid.

The gameplay flowed  smoothly and was truly enjoyable. I for one cannot wait to play the full game. When I do I shall write up a more in-depth review. Honestly, after playing one level I am sure that this game is going to be money well spent. Transformers: Dark of the Moon The Game is available June 14th.
