Mind the Mines!

Microsoft brings the classic Windows game of Minesweeper to Windows Phone 7 with a few changes. While the basics of trying to find and avoid mines in the same, we also get xp points and can level up as you earn points for completing levels. Add powerups and achievements to add a little edge.

Gameplay is simple and very responsive as we touch the screen to dig or place as flag. As we earn points we can spend them on powerups such as Auto Flag which will flag one unflagged mine for you at a cost of 15 points.

And then let’s choose between game modes. Classic is the game we are used to from over the years. While Speed mode requires you to clear the mine field before the timer runs out. Failure to do so and all the mines will go boom. Each mode gives you four difficulties from Easy to Advanced with each giving you a larger playing field and more mines.

Being that the game is free, plays well as is even more enjoyable than the original while keeping that original feeling- I can safely recommend this game for the casual gamer.
