I just finished reading Foster's new book which so happens to be the prequel to this summers blockbuster film, Transformers. Titled Ghosts of Yesterday, it starts out plan and boring. The idea Foster develops is a good one, but almost comes out rushed. I almost had to force my self through that first chapter.
Moving into the second chapter, I found it easier and easier to read and get into. By the end of the book, I wanted more....Just to know what happens, Which I'm sure the movie will do.
There are a few things that bug me and forgive me if I become a spoiler, but Bumblebee cannot talk, we know that it is possible in the movie that this may also be the case. The reason given, fairly good, but also undermines Ratchet's ability as a medical technician. Megatron had torn out his equivalent of Vocal Cords back on Cybertron before the AllSpark was lost. Ratchet was unable to repair him. Megatron seems a little to weak, as he comes out of Stasis (he was frozen on Earth) is easily stopped by the human army, part of a special unit, not known to anyone per say. And a few inconsistencies throughout.
If you like having plenty of human characters as well as a few Cybertronian characters than you may enjoy it. I did, despite the few things about which I mentioned. All in all not bad, though I think I prefer the prequel IDW is doing in their comics thus far.
Hey just for kicks, maybe they should have consulted someone like Stephen King to help round out the story, lol.
