Burn After Reading

Wow, maybe that title should be burn yourself after watching, or perhaps for watching! Yes, Yes! I saw the movie Burn After Reading earlier tonight and can I say “what the Smell was that”?
In all honesty the movie was well made, good acting, filmography and such. But a comedy? The writers were distracted while writing or just plain disturbed individuals. Overall, it’s about as funny as Bill Gates’ and Seinfield’s Microsoft commercials. But yes, there are some funny parts, some laugh out loud moments. This is what I would refer to as a complex, dark comedy. It does have some twists that are great in dramas and at times, that’s what it felt like.

Spoilers ahead, in case you plan on seeing it-you may wish to avoid this next paragraph.

Ok, so it boils down to a story about dumb luck, bad luck, and bribery. The context is that no one really knows what going on. And a lot of infidelity with the married couples is revealed. The main characters are trying to get something for information they found, not knowing how useless it is, and the CIA(sourced of info, former employee) hasn’t a clue and has more of who cares, just clean up the mess attitude. It’s almost awkward. The main female character, ultimately gets her desire. A rather stupid one at that. Vanity makes some people clueless and will do stupid things for it. In one scene, Brad Pitt’s character gets shot, a hole in his head, and your left wondering “am I supposed to laugh?” I hope that was not the intent. The ending left you wanting, it was a “hey movies over, no big deal ending.” Basically the CIA says, “what the smell? give here what she wants.” and thats that. Dialogue ends the movie, we don’t even see Linda get what she’s been wanting. ha.

Yes, spoilers are over...and yes, I did have some laughs. I would have to say that this movie is an ok to watch film. A one time watch, might have even been better waiting for the dvd.
Not bad, not great. Go ahead watch it, but don’t expect too much!

And feel free to comment with your own opinion.

In other news, I’m writing this on a new Apple Macbook. Its the basic one. I won it from IFCTV during Comic Con. Yeah, Nice! I also got my Powerbook’s hard drive upgraded to a 160GB. Normally, I do my own tech work, but with the Powerbook’s design upgrading the hard drive is no easy task and I didn’t have the time to work on it either. So I went to Laptops Plus here in San Diego, CA and had them do it. I’ve known them for years and they do great work. I recommend them to my customers at work for any of their needs that we are unable to assist in.

I also have a Creative Zen Xtra 40GB mp3 player that I picked up cheap. I can get it to power on, but either the hard drive is dead/ not working or the units onboard chip is bad. In either case I plan on documenting it with pictures and maybe video as I try to fix it, possibly upgrading the hard drive. I had one years ago, and it was rock solid and lasted close to 8 or 9 years before finally dying. So maybe this is my chance at getting one failed unit, a second life. Although, for music my Zune is still my main player.

Thats a wrap for today, long winded I know. So what do you think?
