Merry Christmas

Twas a night not unlike tonight, though the rain was heavier. With a rattling like tapping on that window, surely I could not sleep. So as I laid there in bed with blankets wrapped all around me as if I were a gift waiting to be unwrapped in the mourning light, I stared up at that pale ceiling while my mind wandered the ages of some forgotten mystery in the fabric of fiction.
Finally, I must have drove off into the lower streets of sleep as the vividness of snare drums brought me to a magical place. A journey, so intricate and unique, only a mind such as this could fathom. But where was I? And the drums they had ceased, fading like the fog leaving a warm summers day. East Berlin, yes perhaps that was the place? Although, I must admit I really can’t be sure. I’ve never been there. Voices rising as the wind passes only to fade away in an instant, like a leaf blowing up before it sharply falls. Yes, I hear children laughing and carrying on, yet something more I do hear. It sounded as if a large metal beam was grating across pavement. A tapping on wood soon followed, not unlike a man walking in tap dancing shoes a long the boardwalk. The few lights I see in the windows of the houses along this street were shut off, almost like the dominoes we used to play with as kids.
It had become very dark in this very cold place, as my eyes tried to adjust to the gazing light of the moon. I heard a faint sound off to my right. I turned to see what it was, but nothing was there. It must have been the wind or some small critter making its get away. It was then, out of the corner of my eye I saw something move. As I looked up and saw a shadowy figure... I woke up to find the rain had stopped and the night drifted away to bring mourning to this beautiful day.

Merry Christmas everyone,

I hope you enjoyed that little piece. This is a great time of year, to remember the joys we have in life and family and the peace along with love. To spend the time we our loved ones, to give more than to receive. To celebrate life and of course Jesus Christ, the real reason we have this day. So go and enjoy the festivities and such and remember what its all about.

Merry Christmas,

Wayne
