On December 17,2009 President Obama signed and amended Executive Order 12425. But what is 12425 refer to?
Well, Reagan signed this order to allow INTERPOL to operate within the United States under certain limitations of course. The idea being that INTERPOL could operate but remain subject to our legal system.
Now with Obama’s changes INTERPOL can now operate with more power. The problem is that our own FBI can no longer search and or seize documents or property from INTERPOL. We the American People no longer have access to any information INTERPOL has, previously under the Freedom of Information Act we did!
So what does this mean? This basically puts INTERPOL above the US Constitution. Think about it, INTERPOL can arrests and hold a trial without disclosure of evidence.
This in my opinion was not a wise move and could be a precursor to something worse. What if Obama lets the International Criminal Court to detain citizens by signing the Rome Statute? That would give the ICC and INTERPOL a chance at detaining US Military personnel and hold them on trial for War Crimes whether true or not simply for Political gain as most nations involved in ICC and the Rome Statute are against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
That is why President George W. Bush refused to sign the Rome Statute and even made agreements with numerous Nations that they would not detain or hand over to the ICC anyone in the US Armed Forces.
What Do You Think?
