Portal 2 the continuing the story were Portal left off, or rather a little further into the future. I gather from the game that ten years had passed, but when your in a cryogenic freeze-can you really tell? You’re the same character with the goal of escape! We start as Wheatley, another robot, wakes you from your slumber. He wants to help you get out before the facility falls apart. Just what has happen on the surface, outside the testing labs-we don’t know. However, it is hinted that the world had ended. Or was that just another mind game?
That’s right, as we progress through this epic story we get ridiculed and bullied and she is back (I can say no more) trying to break you…you monster. The game feature a story that compels you to complete, it is a very engaging story. And it is filled with humor, quick wit, and complex puzzles. We are introduced to new Gels that help us get from portal to portal or to create portals. And we even get to visit the moon! Briefly, but what a view!
Your enemy, the one you defeated in Portal. Well, she, GlaDOS is back. You brought her back online by mistake, but that’s ok because now you get to befriend her as Wheatley takes over and puts her into a potato. What a spud, eh? As challenging and thought provoking as this game is, the story adds so much more. We get a little bit of hints into the past. You can start to piece together something unique, to say the least. Yes this is a captivating game. It’s a very serious tone with very heavy humor and sometime light humor to blend it to perfection. Valve did an excellent job her.
The controls are very easy to use and well, there isn’t much more to it. The sound effects and soundtracks are spot on and very high quality. Also the graphics are superb. I did not detect or notice and graphic, audio, or control issues. Most games upon release these days have a few bugs, but there were none here that I found.
I take into account the story, gameplay, audio/visuals along with the the amount of hours I spent playing Portal 2 and I can easily say this was well worth the money I spent. This is a game that I see value even when priced at $60. And although I have completed the single player campaign/ story, I have only dabbled in the multiplayer aspect. Which the few levels I played were fun and challenging in that you must work with your teammate to solve the test chamber in order to proceed. You’ll want voice chat enabled with a comfortable microphone headset for these. And yes, there is a story to the co-op as well. I’ll figure it as I go. And just around the corner and very soon if I recall, we should be getting our first Portal 2 DLC which is slated to be free.
In conclusion, Portal 2 is a first person puzzle game that feels much like a shooter and is definitely worth playing. If you are still on the fence, just fall into a blue portal and emerge from a orange portal somewhere in which you can buy or rent this game! Warning, if you really see a blue or orange portal-Your probably already playing…
