As many of you know I am an avid gamer. I love playing video games and my console of choice is the Xbox 360. You’ve probably read some of my reviews, but now I have a new opportunity, and a new reason to play.
This year Disciplined Monkey Studios staff Jorge, Erick, and myself will be participating in Extra Life in an effort to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It’s a simple and effective process, but we need your help to succeed.
Extra Life begins on Oct 15, 2011 8AM and ends Oct 16, 2011 8AM. That’s right 24 hours, but what will we be doing? Playing video games! And you can help. Our goal is to raise $200 each. To do that we need sponsors like you to donate on the per hour basis. Any amount can help. Whether it be $1 or $100 per hour. So for example if you donate $1 for every hour I play, which will be a solid 24 hours, then your donation would total $24. The sponsors the quicker we can reach our goal and the more money we raise the more children we can help. And all donations are tax deductible and I’m sure we all could use a little tax break next April. It’s a win-win scenario. 100 % of your donations go to help
If your ready to sponsor me head on over to: http://www.extra-life.org/participant/redneckpoet and near the bottom of the page you’ll see a blue button that says “Support Me.”
Why donate/Sponsor? For the kids, because unlike Cyberdyne’s Terminator series of robots- the children really are our future. Not to mention, the funds raised are going to save lives! I wish it were as simple as tossing another quarter into the arcade for an extra life, but we all know it is not. But I get sidetracked.
Who, you ask is Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals?
“Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has grown dramatically since its founding in 1983 from a televised fundraiser in a small studio to one of the North America's leading children’s charities.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was founded with two simple goals
- Help as many children as possible by raising funds for children’s hospitals.
- Keep funds in the community in which they were raised to help local children.
The organization was founded by Marie Osmond and her family, John Schneider, Mick Shannon and Joe Lake.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals most recognizable symbol and greatest fundraising tool is its red and yellow Miracle Balloon icon.
As of 2011, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4.3 billion—most of which is donated a dollar or two at a time.” –Excerpt from http://childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org/About
