I don't get to write as often as I would like these days. However the summer has been awesome.
I'll give you my thoughts on some movies I've seen this summer so far and then dive into the wonderful world of comic con San Diego. woo hoo.
One of the first movies I saw this year was Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I really enjoy this, it was fun and funny too! Although the way Galactus looked is something I still can't decide if I like.
I also saw Live Free Or Die Hard, That was what I expected hard pounding action til the end. What a blast, but it shadows in comparison to the movie I saw next....
And that was Transformers, the movie that took me back twenty years and made me feel like a kid again, I actual was overwhelmed the first time I saw it, it was just incredible, breath taking. Lebouf(sorry if the spelling is wrong) did an excellent job as Sam. And I'm sure he'll do great in his current project with Spielberg and Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 4.
I saw a few other movies like Evan Almighty and that is a must see comedy. Very clean, and laugh all the way through it kinda film.
Man, what else did I see this year. Oh, Spider Man 3. yeah it was good, but not great. That musical bit caught me by suprise and the action and effects were great, but the story lacked a little. 300 I saw even earlier and was amazingly done. Enough Said. lol. Oh, and what about the movie I saw last night....
Superman: Doomsday, an animated direct to dvd from DC Comics, was shown at Comic Con. I can say that they did a great job, the characters come alive and you can almost forget that it is animated. You may cry in this one, but you'll definitely cheer and get into it. Wow.
On more of the comic con note, I was at Paramounts event and there were some surprises. JJ Abrams all but comfirmed that his new movie codenamed Cloverfield, is a new monster movie. It will be "our own monster movie" not Godzilla. We also got a sneak peak at Iron Man, a live action movie coming to theatres in May 2008. They haven't done much visual, special effects yet and wow. Tony Stark is Tony Stark of the comics from what the clips tell. And the story of Iron Man comes alive in a modern twist, not too unlike his early comic birth. Lol. It looks great, and the first Iron suit is right and the final one they show is our classic Iron Man and it looks incredible.
Star Trek will be out Holiday 08, and although I forgot his name the young man to play Spock
looks the part. Nimoy will return as well, and his response to how he felt about the young man replacing him...."Logical". This might actually be good.
Lionsgate has an interesting western that I'll have to see before I say whether it'll be good or not, it's called 310, to Yuma.
DC is working on more animated films, like Justice League. They showed us who would be voice acting and while I can't remember them all...Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman, David Bourialis(I know I screwed that up, you know the guy played Angel and now on Bones) as the green lantern. Ok, I gotta go back to comic con today, but if you haven't seen Transformers yet or Evan Almighty, go watch em. I sure enjoyed them. Hmm, I know I watched more movies this year, If I remember, I will write. Until next time.....
