Arcade Add-Ons, Not Just a Crash Course

Just a few things I’ve noticed on Xbox Live Marketplace this week and last that are worth mentioning. First there are the two new Doritos games. Harm’s Way is a racing/shooter and while I enjoyed playing it for about 10 minutes, it got old really fast. The good news is that it is free and you can get a few easy achievements. Online multiplayer was non-existent, I could not find anyone online playing.

Crash Course reminds me of the TV show Wipeout or Gladiators. You are running through some crazy obstacle courses. This one is fun, even if you cannot succeed by beating the time of each level. All those years of Donkey Kong and Pitfall have paid off. The achievements are also more challenging. Oh and free too!

Quake Arena Arcade is simply a ported version of the pc version of yesteryear. Although the feel and look is much as I remember it they have added a new Single player campaign, HD and Widescreen support and for multiplayer 12 maps are exclusive to Xbox. Although at 1200 points I think I’ll wait for now. It’s a good game, but playing the demo gave me the feeling of been there, done that before.

Then at 800 points we get the 1992 X-Men Arcade. This is the side scrolling brawler we used to play at those almost extinct Arcade Centers. Online and offline Co-op with up to 6 players. At the price, I think this is a good buy.

And for those who haven’t traded in your copy of Force Unleashed 2, it would appear Lucas and Co are throwing us a bone. I guess they listened? Anyway, anew mission is available. It’s Endor. And only 80 points! Well it it is like the game it will last about 2-5 minutes. But we shall see. I haven’t played it yet, but I will at some point. The goal is going after the rebels on Endor, pretty simple, but if Vader command it. There was also a Character pack available. Even at 80 points, I don’t think I need to look like Luke or Han to make the game any better.

Also to note Monopoly Streets gets a few add-ons. We get the stratosphere city board for 560 points. It’s a futuristic city in the sky. At this price, I think I’ll wait. But I have no doubt that the quality and looks are impressive. The other Board we get is the Championship Board for 240 points. It’s a little more reasonable priced and a nice addition to the game. Although, it’s look is the basic classic look with the casino chips on the side and that championship feel. Then at 80 points each we get a few new Tokens. These are the Horse and Rider, the Canon, and the Rocking Horse. Go ahead and pick your favorite token.

And let’s not forget the Piano Man. For the music lovers and Rock Band players, you now can get Billy Joel’s music to play in Rock Band 3. They can be purchased in a pack for 1600 points or 160 points per song. Billy Joel has some awesome songs. So if you think you’re a Big Shot and an Entertainer, just remember You May Be Right. Go download, play and find out. As for this Article, I’m Movin’ Out!
